I am having some very major issues with the graphics card(s) in my Lenovo Z575. When playing games, almost immediately or a little bit after playing a game, I get corrupted looking graphics, with a lot of visual garbage that starts to build up more and more until I get an BSOD with a fault in ATIKMPAG.SYS.
I have tried:
- Installing the "mobility" drivers from the AMD site for the A-34xx series, with no avail, as the install program does not want to install drivers, but only Catalyst. Each time I have tried to reinstall drivers, I would completely wipe the AMD/ATI graphics drivers/folders/registry entries manually for a fresh install.
- Using the AMD 12.7 beta driver. It has support for the 6520g/6650m that comes with the Z575. While it works, it causes slowdown and graphical glitches in any game.
- Disabling Crossfire in Catalyst, which still gives me the same issues with the visual corruption and ATIKMPAG.SYS BSOD.
- Disabling the 6650m graphics card in the BIOS and have only used the UMA, and it seems to work fine with any game, but with a huge performance impact since there is no 6650m available.
I'm thinking that this is purely some kind of driver fluke, and has something to do with the Crossfire setup this laptop comes with. Either that, or the system fan is completely inadequate for what they have put into this system. I've also made sure that the energy management is set to "high performance" to make sure that the heat disappation feature is in full working order.
I have been working with this issue since I took it out of the box on 06/28/2012. I seriously hope there is a way to fix this, and that Lenovo updates their mobile drivers, or else I'm going to have to get my money back and go with another brand. Thanks for any help you can offer. :smileyhappy:
