Z580 audio no longer working

2013-12-02, 14:32 PM

For some reason my laptop woudn't load up last night and so I hit the power button to turn it off, when I turned it back on again, I was giving a number of options and one of the options was to restore the system because it wouldn't load up.

I clicked this option and when windows 8.1 loaded up it displayed that I had no audio devices installed. This happened to me last week and I was fortunate enough to be able to restore my system to an earlier date (this was the last thing I did, tried installing drivers which did not work at all) but when I tried to do the same last night, I was told there was no saved restore points and so I'm currently stuck with no sound.

Could someone please help me out? I need my laptop on a daily basis as I'm doing a Computer Science course and I also need to release updates for my Android app which I recently released worldwide so I can't really afford to send my laptop away to be fixed (hopefully that wont be needed) and I've got a lot of valuable data on my laptop so I can't afford to completely reinstall Windows 8.1 (checked if that was possible and it said that I was missing files, so I can't do that either)

Thanks

Mark

hi MOS182,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can you try the Following:

-Perform a power Drain

-Boot inside BIOS and Press F9 to load defaults and F10 to save and Exit.

-Uninstall the Audio driver under Device Manager / Place a check under "Delete driver software for this device"

And try installing this driver

 Realtek Audio Driver

Check if plugging in earphones will show any changes,

Let me know your findings

Cheers!

What's a power drain?

Do you mean just press F9 when the laptop boots up? Following that press F10?

There's no check box for "Delete driver software for this device"

  - Remove AC and (Battery If applicable) and hold the power button down for 10 sec.

- Turn on the computer and right away start hitting F2, you will boot to the BIOs screen

- Once inside BIOS hit F9 and it will ask if you want to load defaults press enter for YES

- now press F10 for save and exit then prress enter for yes.

-Try installing the driver i provided above (restart the computer after if you are prompted)

hi

Can you right click on that device with an exclamation mark

  Click on update driver

Click on "Browse my computer for driver software"

Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

If you were provided with list of drivers pick one and click next and check if it will work. if not try another driver with that same method.

If the above step did not work or if you were not provided with drivers, try getting the hardware id of that device with an exclamation mark and post it back here

Regards

Hardware ID: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0269&SUBSYS_17AA4022&REV_1002\4&3A3FC0BE&0&0001

Got 2 errors, one the first time I tried all the Realtek drivers which didn't work as I got an error (Code 18) and then I tried 'High Definition Audio Device' which did install, but the sound wasn't working, so I then went to try the Realtek Drivers again and got the second error (Code 1)

hi

This is a Windows 8 driver

 Realtek Audio Driver

Install this so it will overwrite the drivers or add this driver to the list.

Do the same procedure as above to manually select a driver

It may add a driver to the list or overwrite a realtek driver, try all the drivers again.

Thanks for the Hardware ID it verfied we're using the right drivers , Windows conflict is what we're getting.
