My problem is still not solved. I have been trying all stunts. I had uninstalled the driver and reinstalled driver of windows 7. Worked out for again 2 days. Same reoccured again. Again i installed the driver for windows 8. Its too slow and behaving intermittently. managing with ethernet cable. I dont know whether the problem is specific to Lenovo or what? Highly unsatisfied with theproblem:(

I know your feeling. I have tried the following:

- Unchecked the power off wireless on power settings

- Disabled the Bluetooth on Startup

- Uninstalled the drivers

- Reinstalled the drivers

Nothing has changed. The same problem persists to haunt me. I'm actually convinced there is either some flaw in lenovo z580 laptops or the wireless card.

I have even tried disabling my antivirus (Avast) as I though this may have been the problem. I'm even having the same problem when shutting the laptop down completely and then turning it back on.

If anyone can help, will appreciate it big time. I think I'll have to give johnlewis a visit or a phone call. Luckily I have two years cover.

Hi there, original poster here. Afraid I've had no luck either. I've done everything that's been suggested here and nothing's worked. Anyone have any other ideas?

I have had no joy.

I have tried everything suggested above and I'm now racking my brains. I have given in and contacted John Lewis, whose technicians are going to take a look. Hopefully they see that this laptop model has issues and gives me full refund.

The only thing I can come up with is that Windows 8 power management is conflicting with the wireless card turning it on/off after coming out of sleep mode.

There seems to be so many people with the same issue, I was feeling positive that Lenovo would sort this out fast.

Try this:

1. Boot in safe mode.

2. Uninstall wifi driver from device manager. Be sure to check the box that says "delete ...".

3. Reboot and let windws 8 install it's own wifi driver.

4. Disable bluetooth if you have one.

5. Connect to internet by supplying the ssid and passphrase.

Observed if problem still exist.

This is what worked for me, I found the issue was isolated with coming out of sleep mode.  So, to work around the issue I set my computer to sleep after 30 minutes and hibernate after 31 minutes (power options > advanced).  Coming out of hibernate the wireless connection is established successfully.

I have the same issue with the Wi-Fi in Z580. Solution proposed by LenBlazer did not worked for me. As well as several others proposed here.

I saw many complains over the internet about Wi-Fi not properly working in Z580 with Win8. I wonder why Lenovo have not released a new driver without compatibility problems. More than a year have passed since Win8 release, but users still have to look for workaround solutions. Ridiculous!

@Kromaks

I agree in your observation that the work around applies in certain cases only. The wifi problem is not limited to Lenovo brand alone. Other brand also have such a problem. Even the manufacturer of the card (Intel or Broadcom) had been unable to present a sure solution to the problem. This can be ascertain by reading the threads in their respective forum.

Like everyone I am also searching for a solution. The solution I presented works for me. Another solution that I find effective is to use a dual band usb Wifi adapter. Another one which is not so effective is to mod your bios so that there is no whitelist anymore and you can use a different card. It is not so effective because you still have the problem with other cards.

So what now?

Now I am going to make a downgrade to Win7, I've tired of googling for solution.:smileysad:

I hope that in near future Lenovo (or Broadcom) will solve the problem. Because as I understood it's purely software one. And actually I liked Win8.:smileyindifferent:
