2018-08-10, 12:36 PM

hello i own a old ideapad y710 ,it's working well for office works , i try to add a 2 giga pc 6400 ram to upgrade it to 4 giga and just after upgrade memory, my screen goes black , no logo, no bios (it works because i heard it enter windows seven but nothing it's stay black !!!) i try to put an external display but nothing too, it stay black), i put back it to my original 2 Giga ram and it stay on black screen but booting with no gfx in windows seven !!!

My question is , is there any way to flash the bios to recover my display ? i touch nothing else on the computer, only put the same 2 Giga ram with the same name and propertys.

Your Ideapad Y710 from 2007 lacks documentation outside of the user guide.

User guide states:

? Memory (RAM) compartment
The memory compartment provides expansion capabilities for additional
memory. The BIOS automatically detects the amount of memory in the system
and configures CMOS accordingly during the Power-On Self-Test (POST)
process. There is no hardware or software (including BIOS) setup required after
the memory is installed.
Note:
(1)Only purchase expansion modules from authorized retailers of this computer
to ensure maximum compatibility and reliability.
(2) If you only insert one memory card in the compartment, plug it into the slot
near the mainboard.

..

Did you install old Ram, into slot near mainboard?
