ideapad y560 radeon 5730 black screen, need old driver version

2013-01-28, 1:46 AM

hi all,

i got an ideapad y560 0646 with i7 and radeon 5730 without switchable graphics. after starting, the windows logo appears and afterwards just a black screen. no windows logon. starting with standard vga drivers is possible. im currently running windows 7 prof 64 bit. i remember that i installed windows 7 prof 32 bit in november 2011 and after installing the graphic drivers from lenovo homepage i faced the same issue. so i continued using windows 7 64 bit. i think there was a windows update which caused the issues for windows 7 64 bit. i installed the latest drivers but this didnt work. i think this is no hardware issue because ubuntu is running fine. i would like to try the old drivers which came with the y560 on cd. unfortunately i cant find the cd.

does some have the old driver cd and could upload the drivers or name the file of the driver so i can download it from the web?

no need to do this. the black screen problem is solved. and the 0101 blue screen problem when connecting the ac charger cable ,too. i had to adjust the energy settings in windows. the mininmal performance is set to 100 percent for running with cable. if you set it to 5% like running on battery, it isnt crashing. perhaps this could be a solution to other having the black screen after windows logo.

heres what to do:

boot in safe mode and adjust your energy settings for running with ac adapter. set the minimal performance to 5%

please let me know if it works

thank you, ishaan.

but both solutions don't work for me. the first one is just for the y560 version with intel hd graphics and the second one causes a black screen, too. i've read that the black screen is caused by a bad windows driver update and a new driver version. the old drivers seem to work, but i can't test them because i can't find the driver cd. i need the older graphic drivers or the name of the setup file so i can download it on my own.

Hi
Actually, i have switchable graphics with intel hd graphics. So i wont be able to give you drivers. if you know the old verison of the drivers, then you could try using google. By the way, do you still have the drivers folder in d drive?

ok i got the black screen fixed. seems like the energy management is not recognizing the battery as original lenovo battery. this causes the crash. i don't know if it has to do with new drivers. i installed the chinese one before.if i start without charger cable it starts fine. with charger cable connected it gets black screen after windows logo. if i plug in the cable after boot the computer is crashing. im actually trying to fix this.

Hi
Congrats that you partially solved the problem.
Could you please try this?
Take a penny coin or any other thin coin.Put it between the gpu and the heatsink. See if there is any progress after this.

Hi dedalus,
How can we find that minimal setting to 5%, where should i go?
Control panel, power option, choose balanced(change plan),changed advance power setting, den look for the minimum processor state and it should be 5% both?
Is that it?
