ideapad z710 battery connected but not charging

2015-05-19, 15:57 PM

Hi I've purchased a ideapad z710 two month ago, suddenly i'm not able to charge
the battery. The battery icon says battery connected but not charging and the energy manager
says Unauthorized Battery, but the laptop is new!.
I've tried to remove the battery and the ac adapter, restore the pc to default etc.
Any ideas?
regards.

Hi Giovanni2015,

Is the computer still able to turn ON with Battery Alone?

Hi,

Try Draining the power OFF first from the BIOS Menu.

1. First Remove the ACadapter you will run the computer only on battery

2. Turn ON the computer and start tapping F2, This will boot the computer to a BIOS Environment.

3. Let the computer sit on that screen and let it turn OFF by itself due to Loss of Battery Power.

4. Once its OFF, Plugg in the AC and turn the computer ON.

5. Let it charge till it reaches 100 percent.

Check if it will resolve the problem.

Hope this helps

Cheers!

Hi and thanks again.
Unfortunately I'm not able to run the laptop without AC adapter because
the battery is very low.
I've restored windows 8.1 and now when i turn on the computer i've a message saying that the battery is not original and could be hurtful ( i think that there is a sort of protection mechanism that block the use of the battery).

regards

Giovanni Antinori

Hi Giovanni2015,

This Error message seems that the battery is defective,

You can contact Lenovo Technical Team for assistance,

or you can opt to ge the replacement battery from Online or from local Resellers.

Ok Thank you.
I think that the only logical solution is to send the laptop
to the lenovo technical assistance.

I let you know the what was the problem.

Re: ideapad z710 battery connected but not charging

Hi...

I'm having a similar issue with my machine. It gets upto about 58% charge & stays there - (plugged in, not charging). What good is the battery if you can't get it to 100%???

My Z710 doesn't have BIOS, so thumping the F2 key does nothing. Is there a setting somewhere to get this thing to go to full-charge? Is there another way to drain it since I don't have BIOS? I tried just running it down while it's running normally, but that didn't work either.

Thanks,

RoddinRob.
