lenovo y500 and y510p owners what are your idle and load temps?

2013-10-27, 20:20 PM

hey guys

so I was wondering are all y500 and y510p run hot in idle and stressed or not, cuz my y500 run idle at 48-55c and 85c for cpu stressed and 85c also for gpu stressed, the same results have came out with the y500 in similar room tempreture.

so what are your temps in HWmonitor or coretemps

also does your fan spins wihen your idling or browsing or such, or stops to spin at all, mine spins but at a very low rpm you cannot notice it unless you stick your ear in front of the vent, but spins at moderate speed when gaming :)

Not sure actually. But it usually takes a while for the fans to kick up to fast speeds and be audible.

Running Spec Ops The Line at MAX settings I got ~84 degree celsius

Running Thief at Very High Settings                          ~82 degree celsius

Running FIFA 13 at MAX settings                                ~75 degree celsius

Running Hitman Absolution at High settings           ~82 degree celsius

These are max tempratues, mostly I saw the CPU temps between 70 and 80. i am planning to buy a MasterCooler X3.

Anybody has any suggestions for cooling pads?

good temps and pretty acceptable. as for the cooling pad I highly recommend getting one of these

cooler master sf17

or cooler master sf19 - this one you can change the fans with any aftermarket cooling fans 140mm that are used in desktop pcs and can take up to 18inch laptops.

http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-SF-17-Ergonomic-Settings/dp/B00E5AEITU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1398103958&sr=1-1&keywords=cooler+master+sf17

http://www.amazon.com/Gaming-Laptop-Cooling-Turbine-SGA-4000-KKNF1/dp/B004G603E2/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1398103958&sr=1-2&keywords=cooler+master+sf17

they maybe on the expensive side but you get a usb hub with them and heigh adjustment espcially with the sf17, you can get a cooling pad and a usb hub seperatly for cheaper but your rig won`t look as elegant with gaming lights and wire routing.

Thanks for those suggestions EagleSpeed. I have taken a look at those cooling pads.

i already have a USB hub, so practically its not of use for me in the SF models. Also, you are correct that these fans are almost double the cost of what I am looking to purchase.

Would you recommend not buying the CoolerMaster X3? Does it have any major known problems?

I am going for that and not for X2 since X3 has a larger fan (200mm) and as per reviews on Amazon, cools down the laptop considerably more than any of its cheaper counterparts.

I would ideally like to spend $30 for a cooling pad but I guess I can stretch upto the X3. What do you say?

if you already own a hub then I assume you won`t need one of the SF series, I don`t own a SF17 or 19, but I was considering them and read about them extensivly, but then dug up and found that like u I already own a good 10 usb hub so I went a head a bought a cheap cooler from merlin that was availabe.

the cooler master x3 is a great cooler and I really like the flat design, there is even a slim version. it has high recommendations and review so I assume it`s great. u will get 5c or so less after getting a laptop cooling pad.

thanks guys for all your inputs I just replaced my motherboard and applied a fresh thermal paste and my temps appears to be 55c cpu on idle and around 80c under load for my gt650 sli they both would hit around 75c on average demanding games, on furmark the mainboard GPU would hit 85c.

in a room temp of 27c.
