lenovo y70-70 Touch black screen on power supply

2018-06-07, 12:06 PM

Hello There

I have  Lenovo Y70-70 Touch, about 3 weeks ago i had a major W10 update and since then i get a black screen when the power adapter is plugged in (on battery power it is fine), i tried rolling back the update, even re installed W10 but no change. i have looked around and tried various different things to try and solve this (Power plan on balanced and i never turn off screen, uninstalled both intel and nvidia cards/drivers even tried older drivers, W10 power management installed, even tried disconnecting the battery and reset cmos)

Im running out of ideas, has anyone had this issue before? any ideas on how to cure this?

many thanks in advance for any assistance/help here

Hello Stuart_C

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

If you`ve done a reset and even reinstalled Windows, then you`ll be likely facing a hardware fault.

You could try another power supply, it`s possible that it may help.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

If these steps do not work I would recommend, that you call your local Lenovo support line for a possible service. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
