Its quick and easy, you don't even have to talk to a real person.

Re: new disk partioning and one key recover feature

I recently bought a Lenovo y50-70 laptop. The laptop's hard disk consists of 6 partitions one windows 888gbs and 5 recovery partitions, only one the Lenovo   is not hidden. At first I thought that because all these partitions were primary ,I couldn't shrink the big and create three new. But  as I found out  the hard disk has a gpt partition table ,so that must be possible. If - lets say - I leave the windows partition with 200gb or 300gb,wil that be a broblem? Also is there any problem regarding the OneKey recovery? If I do a format the hard disk will go back to its previous state(6 partitions)?

Re: new disk partioning and one key recover feature

Hi,  I've just registered on this forum because I have an Ideapad Z585 which fails to boot.  Therefore I wish to back up data and re-install windows 8.  However when I press the one key recovery button I get a menu with 4 options:

Normal Start, BIOS Setup, Boot Menu and system Recovery.  The manuals I have read online say that there should be a system backup option.  I cannot find this.

Can anyone help as I would like to backup data before doing a system recovery?

As a matter of interest when I try to enter BIOS Setup or Boot menu nothing happens.  Also I do hope this is the correct way of entering a new post.  I looked all over the forum web page but could not find anything to do with raising a new topic / post.  Apologies if I have got it wrong.

Regards,

Page 31  of the Hardware Maintenance Manual stated the creation of Recovery Disks which you can use to recover. The creation requires the OS and OKR to be running. In your case this is no longer possible including recovery. If you can contact tech support try to inquire if there are recovery disks available for your unit from their end.

Since the unit is no longer bootable, the backup can only be done manually by removing the drive and connecting it as a secondary drive in another unit. After the backup you have to put it back to your unit. The Hardwrae Maintenance manual shows the steps to achieve the hdd removal.

If the unit is still under waranttee Lenovo might be able to help you out with the recovery. Why not give them a call?

Hi Len,

Thanks for the info. Have already tried trying to access the disk using a USB Docking station with no success. Will try the secondary disk option.

This is the link of the drivers for Y50-70. I'm not sure if applications are also included but you can check.

Re: new disk partioning and one key recover feature

I have a p400 laptop, windows 8.1. 1tb hard drive. I bought a new samsung ssd, 120GB. I used their migration software to copy what i had on the previous drive over. The previous drive had a c drive and d drive. I assume the d drive is where the one key partition was located. I copied both over.

The laptop came without CD software.

One Key will not work now. "The program cannot find the service partition. This function is currently unavailable."

I read what i could, and the sense that i got was that the one key was never going to work after copying the drive.

I'm not that tech savy, I was hoping i can get a clear answer on how to fix this issue. Maybe a step by step. I have no idea how to partition drives.

Re: new disk partioning and one key recover feature

My laptop is ideapad y580 preinstalled windows 8

i like onekey recovery because i can reinstall my windows quickly. but after 8 months of not using it didn't work.

I click on system recovery and the pc just restarts, it doesn't boot in the recovery environment

I used from the pc settings>general>remove everything and reinstal windows and i got the same efect.( going back to the factory settings) but onekey recovery still not works

what can i do to make onekey recovery work again?
