power mamangement question

2009-01-26, 20:56 PM
Does anyone know what benefit Lenovo's power management software has over the built-in Vista power management? I'm having a hard time seeing a need for 2 power management applications so I'm considering uninstalling the Lenovo program.

If you have the Lenovo power management software installed, it takes control of all power management settings. Thus the Vista power management is not used. Feel free to uninstall the Lenovo power management if it does not live up to your standards. However, I do believe that it is a device listed in the Device Manager.

Lenovo Energy Management software surely as some benefits that worth their use.

You can preset brightness settings, hibernate/sleep timings, processor speed settings and even can maage which devices to trn off so they do not consume power.

All this is done in pleasant and convinient manner and you can quickly switch between pofiles.

Lenovo Energy Management software overrides settings of built-in Vista/Xp power management profiles except those actions on lid close and shutdown button.

Why do you want to uninstall Lenoo software?

Also, which laptop do you use?

I have the Y730. It's not that I want to uninstall the Lenovo software, it just seems redundant to have 2 programs running that do essentially the same thing. That's why I was curious what advantages the Lenovo Energy Management offered over Vista's. They both show up in the system tray and it gets a little confusing if you open the wrong one to change something. Maybe there is a way to keep the Vista program from showing up in the system tray.

The factis that both programs have a synergy - one can make what another can't. They fill each other. I'd not touch both if I'm asked =)
