Re: solution for updating graphic cards for y560 with switchable graphics only [catalyst 10.11]

i doubt that.Install "Driver Sweeper" app. Uninstall current driver (intel graphic too via device manager), reboot in safe mode. Run Driver Sweeper, check ATI box and clean remains of driver. Boot normally. Install 8.752. Then ,as option, my 10.10e.

After I download the AMD Drivers from the Lenovo site, how do I install them? and after that should I install the ATI 10.10 drivers as you suggested? Wouldn't that cause some kind of conflict between them?

To install driver just double click on setup icon. Follow the instructions. Conflict? Nah, the new one is partly rewriting the old one.

y560 i5 (switchable) update ati catalyst

2010-12-17, 2:18 AM

Anybody had any luck updating their ATI Drivers on a y560 with switchable graphics? As you all prob know the official ATI packages refuse to install due to lenovo's helpful OEM lock.

I tried reading the other huge thread but it seems to be all i7 guys w/ only discrete not switchable.

I have somehow managed to update to 10.7 (Driver packaging ver 8.753)  via a modded driver someone posted somewhere but can't remember exactly where, but even that is a bit behind now.

Any hints much appreciated.  I am the bleeding edge type and its really really bugging me out.

btw this is the last time I buy lenovo consumer products, I have had no end of trouble beating this y560 into shape. What other manufacturer ships with broken drivers out of the box (including in the one-key restore image lol). pathetic. The desktop grunts at work tell me their corporate stuff is not much better and that they're switching to all dell, now thats pathetic when dell overtakes you lol.

Hello,

I have tried the drivers, and first of all, thank you for releasing better drivers.

However, I am having some trouble with them.

Ok so I have to admit that I didn't install the driver ready plus in the C:\BOOT so it wasn't working. BUT the driver still installed, w7 asked me if i wanted to install the unsigned driver, and I said yes. At that point, I did have 8.782.1 installed, with no errors.

So I ran SC2, and lo and behold, i went from 60fps to 90fps, BUT pylon fields weren't showing up properly, along with other graphical glitches.

Does anyone else have any trouble with this new driver in games? Are the glitches because I didn't install driver ready plus properly, or are they inherent with the driver? I tried to re-install the driver, and my fps dropped to 30, with the frame rate reading (CTRL+ALT+F) looking all glitchy as well, sc2 settings on high.

Did you read this thread:

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-B-V-and-Z-series/solution-for-updating-graphic-cards-for-y560-with-switchable/td-p/322697

There's a method for switchable graphics users to switch to 10.10e!

@tabasko

Pylons invisibility is famous catalyst problem. Try to update to 10.12.

@wintermute000

never had such problems. I simply perform clean installation (safe mode --> driver sweeper) of any driver i wish and it always fits.

 @all

ufff...repeating once again, i ve updated drivers to 10.12.

Where do I download the 10.12 drivers? I just read the whole thread again, and did not find a link.
