wiping hard drive

2009-04-27, 1:01 AM

hello everbody,

i just recently got me y530 405166u laptop.  unfortunately, like all new systesms, it runs vista.  i want to wipe out my hard drive and install xp instead.  my question is what drivers should record so that i may install them after installing windows xp.  i backed up my partition when i got the laptop, so now i just need to make sure i have a record of all the necessary drivers.  thanks.

okay, so i went to the link and downloaded all of the drivers...however, i noticed that a lot of the drivers, including onekey recovery and veriface and such, are vista only...are there any drivers for these utilities available for XP

OneKey recovery and Veriface are not drivers - those are software.

OKR will work under XP but Veriface barely will since it is designed for Vista only.

You can try searching earlier versions but it as low success chance.

The Veriface download available from the 3000 Y410 drivers page will work for the Y530 running XP.

i see, thank you for the assistance.  however, the veriface isn't that important, i actually prefer not to have it.  but i'm wondering about the dolby home theater control center.  how do i put that onto my laptop after switching to xp?  and is the subwoofer still being utilized.  i want to make sure i am still using all of the capabilities that the laptop came with originally.

Download the audio driver for Windows XP from the Lenovo support site.. Use Universal Extractor to extract the files within the downloaded EXE. Go to the directory of the extracted files. There you will see another directory titled "DCC" [Dolby Control Center]. Run the installer.

okay, so did everything you said and i installed dolby control center.  it shows up in my start menu but when i click on it, nothing happens, the program never starts up.  furthermore, when i press the dolby button on the touchpad above the keyboard, i get the realtek HD audio manager.
