Re: y510p problesms PLEASE HELP!

Well, materials used by Intel have very low heat capacity (which is supposed to be) for maximum heat dissipation (high thermal conductivity) so a jump from idling 3 watts to 50+ watts (sudden full load) can result to 90 degrees core temps in 1 second if heat isn't dissipated from the die. From the looks of it, you have poor thermal conduction between the CPU die and heatsink. I suggest to follow unclewebb's advice.

I use ThrottleStop to log temperature data.  It can sample the CPU core temperature multiple times a second and the results are shocking.  Here is a log file that shows what happens in my Y510P when going from idle to full load when running the Prime95 program.

C0% is the CPU load and the Temp column represents the peak CPU core temperature.  With this change in load it shows a temperature change of 40C or more in about half a second.  The heatsink and fan in the Y510P are marginal at best.  This test didn't include 2 GPUs heating up the case either.

Wow. How's your gaming performance? Does your CPU bottleneck as fast as mine? Does it underclock itself just as the games start?
