y560p win 7 x64 bluetooth

2014-10-02, 3:24 AM

I haven't used bluetooth for a while, but now I am trying to get it to work and it will not pair with anything. I have installed and uninstalled the lenovo drivers many times. At some point, I got a error message saying that there is a configuration error in the registry. If anyone can provide any troubleshooting advice, please reply.

Thanks

Download Ccleaner and use that to clean your registry.

I highly recommend not running Ccleaner not to clean the registry. Registry cleaners are potentionally dangerous as you can break the operating systems or programs that are already working correctly.

I have worked in a computer store for 1 week, I have seen a few people with tons of error messages caused by CCleaner. If you are an advanced user, it may be useful. But I have seen more false positives than anything else.

You can use CCleaner to clean files or junk, but just don't clean the registry.

Check Your Y560p and devices you previously paired with, and delete the Y560p on every device you previously connected with. On the Y560p, delete the device you want to connect with, and then try to pair again so you will be forced to re-enter the pin code upon connecting.

Kind regards,

I'm part of a computer forum and they recommend Ccleaner. I use it all the time due to keeping my registry clean. I have also given advice to people on here to clean theiry registry and it has solved problems. And the fact he's getting an error in the registry may be due to it not being maintained.

If I may,

Ccleaner can be a useful tool to clean up fragments left over from installing and uninstalling just because of the way Windows leaves bits and pieces of itself everywhere.

But, if a person is not familiar with registry editing or isn't comfortable with going into the registry for editing, then they have no business using a registry cleaner to clean out the registry.  It's too easy to bork the registry and render Windows unbootable.

If you are willing to talk the person through editing the registry from a backup, (assuming there is a backup), then I would say fine.  If not, then I would recommend that the person take his machine to a local repair shop and have them clean the registry.  That way if they bork it up, they will be responsible for restoring the values in the registry.

I've seen way too many people render their machines useless from using system cleaners and registry cleaners.

Regards,

Dave

thanks for the replies, I have a registry cleaner (ASC) but it isn't helping. I think the problem is I installed drivers from the Broadcom website, which I regret. It hasn't worked since. Evidently now the add device page installs a peripheral USB device instead of pairing with my creative zen X-fi3. When I re-install the lenovo drivers it doesn't install the microsoft bluetooth enumerator, I update the driver in the device manager, then it thinks I am trying to install a USB dongle, because instead of pairing,a bluetooth perpheral device. That must be what the new broadcom driver is for. It seems to me that there is a registry instruction left over from the mistake that I made by installing the new broadcom driver. Any Ideas?

The problem seems to be the machine refuses to find the broadcom driver, instead,it installs the generic bluetooth driver. If I could find the broadcom driver then maybe I could force driver update to install th proper one(Broadcom). Can Someone tell me, after running the Lenovo Bluetooth install program, where it the Broadcom driver is?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Ross
