80% available(plugged in,not charging)

I have Lenovo Ideapad Z560 Laptop.

When i charge battery of my laptop, it charges upto 80%..

On moving the cursor over the battery icon i found "80% available(plugged in,not charging)"..

Why it doesnt get charged upto 100%?

I m not understanding is it the problem with my laptop or it will charge only upto 80% and not 100%..

Re: 80% available(plugged in,not charging)

That's usually a sign that the battery is having issues. It is reporting 80%, but will not receive any more current.

If you're under warranty, call up Lenovo, and they'll send you a new battery.

No problem. If it is out of warranty, or Lenovo doesn't come through, let me know and we'll try some other stuff.

Re: 80% available(plugged in,not charging)

Um, my Y560's Energy Management program lets me CHOOSE whether to charge to 100% to maximize RUN TIME, or charge to only 80% to maximize LIFETIME of the battery.  I set mine to 80%.   So I always see this  "80% available(plugged in,not charging)" message.  Just change it back to 100% if you like.

Re: 80% available(plugged in,not charging)

Nothing is wrong with your barrery as other guys said.. you have selected LONGER LIFESPAN BATTERY OPTION.. In this case it recharge battery to 80% to increase battery lifespan... Just change setting from Energy Management..
