A Serious Problem: The default gateway is not available

2013-09-03, 21:02 PM

I've just bought a Ideapad y510p. But I have trouble keeping the computer connected to internet.

After a short period of time from starting to use internet, I can't visit any webpage. It takes seconds, a few minutes or 10-20 minutes.

After connection lost I've opened the Network and Sharing Center and clicked Troubleshoot Problems. While the computer detecting problems, in 'Resolving Problems' step, it says 'reset Wi-Fi adapter'. This step solving the problem. And end of steps I saw this page:

After this page I can start using te internet again.

How can I save my computer from this problem?

For this reason I can't playing online games :(

Upgrade your wireless card, the one included on Y5/400 machines is crap. There are some who say upgrading the drivers will fix the issue so you may want to do that first.

If you do upgrade confrm with Lenovo that it's compatible, Lenovo has a white list on the BIOS that only allows for certain hardware to boot the machine. If you're confortable with it you can install an unlocked BIOS that will not have this white list (it's what I'm doing) but you will void your warranty by doing so. This will however allow you to upgrade to any harware you may like, which in my case it's a AC card to match my Asus AC router.

Best of luck.

Update the drivers.

Is that fails, upgrade. The included card is substandard tbh.

I downloaded the Wi-Fi driver first. After that I deleted the exist driver from Device Manager and reinstalled the driver. Now there is no problem. Thank you for help.
