After update from BIOS Z-50 is not working

2017-10-17, 0:12 AM

I have a z-50-70 type 20354.

Using windows 10

After the update from LENOVO was asked if I wanted to update the BIOS, I pressed OK and the update finished.

But after the reboot I just can see the screen

EFI NETWORK ) for IPV4(....) boot failed

I don't have any other options on my screen.

What can I do? How can I undo the update or restart the system to factory?

Go into the BIOS and check
- HD is shown as detected
- boot order may be affected

You could try resetting the bios to defaults and go from their depending on what you see. The HD is normally the top item or just after a USB device but must be in the list.

The boot menu was not showing because I needed to press FN+F(number), I was missing the FN button.

The HD was showing, but I did see any boot order.

So I took a bootable USB stick and through the LiveCD I restore the bootloader (grub).

So I don't know how, the update from Lenovo messed up with the bootloader somehow, but now it's working just fine =)

Good to hear its working. Every BIOS I have seen in every machine has a BOOT section and you can select the order for looking at bootable items.

USB, FLOPPY, HD0, HD1, etc, DVD, Network are some that come to mind. The HD does not have to be first but needs to be in the list near the top.

If I understand what you did maybe the UFEI boot part was corrupted somehow. On another note. DON'T USE PASSWORD PROTECT OR ENCRYPTION ON THE HD OR SYSTEM
Too many people do and try and eventually lock themselves out of their own system and date. There is no way to get back in and all is lost when that happens!!
