Archived Lenovo P580 Audio Drivers? - Dolby Home Theater v4 - Windows 7

2013-10-24, 6:57 AM

Hello All,

I cannot seem to get the Dolby Home Theater v4 software to work correctly. I understand that the software is bundled with the Conexant HD audio driver and I downloaded 0zau06ww.exe. When I play audio I should see the spectral analyzer respond to any audio stream, but it doesn't do that anymore. Turning Dolby on or off has no effect on the sound playing.

I've made sure nothing is preventing Dolby from running by going into Sound and making sure that the Enhancements box is unchecked. Did a clean install as suggested, still nothing. The GUI comes up, the faders slide up and down on the equalizer, but there is no change in sound. What gives? Smart Audio also came bundled with the driver, I know there's a Windows 8 version that includes this.

Not sure why Lenovo either doesn't show the older software anymore, or at least have a link to archived files. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

System: Lenovo P580

OS: Win 7 Premium/64

This is what Speccy reports for my audio:

High Definition Audio Device - Use to show Conexant, I suspect a recent Windows update wiped that out.
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) - No idea where this came from
Bluetooth Hands-free Audio
Intel Display Audio - Not sure what this is, never seen that before
Bluetooth Audio Device

Playback Devices
Headphones (High Definition Audio Device) (default) - Use to show Conexant here as well
Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)
Recording Device
Microphone (High Definition Audio Device)

I am seeing three Conexant HD Audio drivers on the P580 driver page. This means you have got three drivers to try.

Oldest
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/0zau06ww.exe

Newer:
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/0zau05w8.exe

Newest:
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/audio130w81.exe

Make sure to try all three :)

Kind regards,

Thank you Jonas.

I'm well aware of the first and it's not the oldest - (see the bold lettering near the beginning of my post). Lenovo revised the layout of the drivers page a few months back and a lot of the older drivers no longer exist. The second and third options you've provided are for Windows 8 machines, not Windows 7.

Seems like the only solution is to purchase the OEM DVD from Lenovo for $89 CDN. Not good Lenovo, considering my P580 is only fourteen months old. Most manufacturers provide a database for archived driver and BIOS files. In the event of a system crash, you're pretty much screwed without the OEM DVD. None of the drivers provided will work or restore the Dolby Home Theater v4 to it's original functionality. For that you'll need to purchase the OEM DVD. You can also restore the old bios with the OEM DVD, if you've inadvertently upgraded your BIOS and your machine boot loops at start-up (Windows 7). I'm told a specific version of Windows 7 is included with the DVD that corresponds to the serial number of the P580. No amount of pressing the (F10) key will save the BIOS settings and you'll need to flash back to the previous BIOS so that your machine boots properly.
