BIOS Update killed my IdeaPad Y560p (twice)

Hi from Russia, and sorry for bad English

Notebook Serial: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Lenovo IdeaPad Y560p (59065945)

Laptop comes with Win7HB 64 bit. First of all i've deleted service partitions and formatted C:

Then I've installed Windows 7 HB 32 bit with all drivers, and saw that only 3Gb RAM from installed 4 Gb is available.

I've take a BIOS Upgrade from lenovo site (Version 30CN59WW, ver 71 from 2011-02-17, for Windows 7 32bit 30cn71ww.txt) and launched it.

After succesfull upgrade, laptop goes to reboot and that was the end. Smiley Happy

I can't turn it on any more. Screen is blank and even battery charge LED did not flash.

A have brought the laptop to the service, and they tell me that motherboard is dead. After changing it (about 1 week) i've make another try, and the history repeats. Smiley Happy

Now it is at service again.

What's wrong?

Sasha

Re: BIOS Update killed my IdeaPad Y560p (twice)

did you restart your computer before flashing bios update?
also, try to remove/reseat or swap the ram sticks.

Re: BIOS Update killed my IdeaPad Y560p (twice)

If you wish to do a BIOS update again (Although the philosophy "Only fix what needs to be fixed" may apply here), first reset all BIOS settings to default.

As well, call the service line, and ask that your new mobo contains the latest BIOS update. Never know...

Re: BIOS Update killed my IdeaPad Y560p (twice)

Hmm. I've searched BIOS update for my Y560p by serial number, not by model.

Now I see that BIOS update that i've used is for Y560, not Y560p.

Re: BIOS Update killed my IdeaPad Y560p (twice)

they are different models. avoid using y560's bios update.
