Battery and Mouse problems with y40-70

Hello, I've had my Lenovo y40-70 for almost 2 years now, and of course when the warranty expires things tend to go wrong.

xD

Anyways, my lenovo's touchpad mouse acts up. Sometimes it will stick, not move in the way I'm trying to make it move, act like it's been clicked constantly (so when I move it over a link it'll just open the link, or do things that happen when you left click a mouse usually) the two buttons aswell don't work. When you do use the left button on the touchpad it usually doesn't register, and when I try to highlight a bunch of text I have to hold the button down REALLY! hard and even then it usually wont register that I'm clicking the button. So basically, the touch pad fails to work at all.

My battery seems to be failing as well. When I unplug my laptop and let it run on battery the screen will flicker to black constantly. So much so that it gives me a headache. A popup showed up telling me that my battery is weak and I need to replace it. I have tried to find a battery to replace it with but I can't find one /anywhere/. Lenovo doesn't seem to sell the parts anymore.

The computer is also SO SLOW! I have factory reset it (which is when it told me my battery is weak) and even then the computer is just draaagging. I don't know if this has to do with the battery or not...I hope it is.

So basically, help...please. I'm about ready to toss it in the river and never get another lenovo again.

Thank you!

Re: Battery and Mouse problems with y40-70

Hi Melelvins ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Did you manage to finish the One Key Recovery factory restore?

Do you have the machine model number from the sticker or here on the parts look up page

If the keyboard and battery would still have the same problem after factory reset and booting the system in a rescue media then there is greater probability for replacement as a fix.

The same part lookup page would also allow you to get the battery and keyboard part number to cross reference with the FRU list of the hardware manual

You may try checking the cables and cleaning up internally on the touchpad. As per  battery report and battery gauge calibration using Energy manager can help.

Running full diagnotics to check further on the integrity of the hardware is advised.

Update us how things go.

Regards
