I just got the brand new unit today and it has been charging for four hours now. Still, the screen is only showing nothing. The keyboards are lit and can be adjusted. I read in one of the posts that this may be a connection problem between the motherboard and the LCD screen. Can someone please point out how this connection issue could be fixed? Should I open the back part of the laptop? I am afraid that it will be very difficult and costly for me to make a return. Also, is it possible to make a replacement in case the problem is not fixed? Another thing to note also is that I am from the philippines and the unit was shipped from the US.

Hi Jesa ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Just to confirm , caps lock / numlock would turn on and off with the LED when pressed.
Power button shows solid white and battery indicators shows that it's charging.
How about connecting it to a desktop monitor , would it show the display ?
Would it show anything if you try to access the BIOS by turning off , and using the Novo key to turn on?
It suppose to show a Novo menu (page 3 number 8) separate from Windows to isolate drivers issue against LCD issue and cable.
As much as possible , do not open the chassis for now and check on its covered warranty here.

Hi! The problem of my laptop is the LCD, it seems that it has been damaged during shipping to the Philippines. Could you please recommend where I can buy a replacement part for this? The laptop has warranty but it's not applicable in my country. Also, if I'm going to purchase a part, how do you think should it be shipped in order not to damage this part again. Thank you!

Hi Jesa ,
At this point we would assume that display works only on an external monitor if onnly the LCD is damaged.
Lenovo Y50-70 Model no. 59445895 do not have International Warranty covered in your location and same with the parts needed .
You can call in Lenovo Tech for probable orders of original parts and shipping :

Hi! thank you for your quick response. Does "probable orders of original parts and shipping" mean that it's probable that this part will not be shipped to the philippines if for some reason it is not available? If so, would you recommend that I order from online stores, and which store in particular? I'd like to prepare just in case the part cannot be shipped by lenovo quickly, because i really need a laptop asap. Also, I am curious as to how long it usually takes for lenovo to ship "probable orders of parts".

Hi Jesa ,
It would be best if you try giving Lenovo tech a call for parts availability and costing so that at least you can have it compared with other resellers for the additional shipping and timeframe.

Hi, can you recommend other sources for this part that I can contact here in the Philippines? I am also thinking about the possibility of shipping this part from the US if there's an availability from resellers. Could you recommend a reliable reseller? The FRU part number is : 18201638.
I contacted the customer service of Lenovo, but they directed me to IBM. IBM has not responded so far and I don't feel they will anytime soon. I'm not sure they gave me the correct email address of the person who may be able to give me a quotation. After my first call, they would not answer me anymore. Please help. Thank you!

Hi Jesa ,
Just wondering how and where you order Y50-70 Model no. 59445895 ?
How did you had it shipped to current location?
Did you receive it damaged?
Do you have an accidental warranty covering it ?
Considering the pricing for shipping , part order and labor charge altogether , is purchasing a new pc with same specification not be an option and to have it shipped back to US to avail of its warranty instead.
I would only be able to suggest Lenovo options but try to consult your trusted IT or service center on their recommendation for resellers since they would have an estimate and experience on orders and shipping parts .

Hi. I read the return conditions of Lenovo. I'm afraid Lenovo would not refund what I paid for anymore if I return it to the US. I ordered it online last December 2015, when the package arrived in the Philippines, it was broken, I used a third party courier (Johnny Air Cargo) to have the laptop shipped. Also, I ordered this under a different name using a service offered by Johnny Air Cargo, where I can pay them so they can process the order for me.

Hello. The Lenovo Tech said that the FRU number of my laptop is 18201638. How will I know which LCD to buy for replacement? Also has anyone had an experience buying from the screencountry?
Am I looking at the right LCD replacement in this link: http://www.screencountry.com/index.php?section=products&model=LENOVO%20Y50-70%2059445895&brand=ibm-l...
