Greetings! I'm a new member so please do nt hesitate to correct me if I break with protocol this forum.
Model: Ideapad Y510P
Compatibility with Windows 8.1 : Full
Issue: Bluetooth not working whilst the feature worked in Windows 8
Clarification: Could not open the bluetooth settings in destop mode.
In the modern UI, when I turn on bluetooth it is forever searching.
1. Installed latest drivers from lenovo support
2. edited the bluetooth registry
3. ran troubleshooting ( no help at all ! )

I had the same problem with my new Y510p after upgrading to 8.1.
I solved it by:
Uninstalled 'Intel PROSet Wireless Bluetooth
Downloaded latest version from Lenovo Support...selecting the Intel 8.1 drivers
Ran setup and restarted
Now the machine finds my Android phone via Bluetooth, and can receive photos from it.

I have been facing the same problem since October 2013.
I have tried all the steps mentioned below, It Does Not work . and Lenovo doesnot provide a solution to this.

I've had the same problem with my Y510p and a Razer Orochi Bluetooth mouse not working. I didn't want to use up a usb port due to all the other devices I'd be plugging in. It has cost me hours and even reverted back to Windows 8.0 after an upgrade to 8.1. By the way it worked fine in Windows 8.0. Now bit the bullet and moved to 8.1.
This is where I got to:
Goto Device Manager.
Uninstall and delete all bluetooth devices, everthing, are you sure?
Go to the top of the device manager window, View, show hidden devices.
Uninstall those hidden bluetooth devices as well.
Now click the scan for harware changes.
Hopefully Windows will scan you hardware and display if you have any blue teeth
It should tell you the hardware type, mine is a Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS
Goto the Lenovo website and download the relevent driver for Win 8.1 etc.
This is not a driver, I think, but a self extracting zip file in disguise
Goto you C: drive and delete any blue tooth related drivers in the drivers folder
Now install the downloaded driver file from the downloaded folder on you C: drive
Do a restart
If it doesn't find your bluetooth device when you turn it on you need to go into the Windows Tile Charm Start screen
Right flyout, settings, change pc settings, pc and devices, bluetooth
Manage Bluetooth should pop up.
That's where I got to and I keep getting it drop out every now and then, 4 time whilst typing this, but that's progress!
Hope that helps although I don't think it's quite a fix, hopefully someone else can fill in the gaps.
Microsoft Windows keeps reminding me why I brought an ipad and regret not buying an Apple Mac.

This happens to be the soluton for my Y510p,
1.Uninstall your Quallcomm Atheros Bluetooth Driver
2.Restart your PC
3.Install Intel Drivers provided on the lenovo support site.
4.Restart your PC.
But there's a problem with this driver that you have to click on recieve file from the bluetooth icon in the notification area.
the download link is...

My bluetooth stopped working all of a sudden, would not even show up on pc and devices or in my drivers management area, tried updating driver, nothing happened. Then downloaded this latest update from Intel:
and works again! cheers
