Blurred display after upgrade to Windows 8.1

Hello,

There is something I don't understand about my newely purchased Lenovo Y50.

I currently have two display adapter installed, as viewed on my Device Manager:

 Device Manager

Which one of these adapters is the main one? Does the Nvidia kick in only when you need a lot of graphics processing power?

I am asking this because I just finished installing Windows 8.1 with all the latest drivers and I get problems with resolutions and blurry text. Some text would look good and some would look bad just like the picture I posted from the device manager.

I am adding a screenshot on my "Screen Resolution" window so you can see if there's  problem there:

1.PNG2.PNG3.PNG

It says I have two displays while I am not connected to any external monitor.

Can anyone explain this situation and possible solution?

Thanks,

Oded

Re: Blurred display after upgrade to Windows 8.1

You need to disable DPI.

E.g for Google Chrome:
Open chrome
On the task bar, right click chrome
Then right click chrome on that list
Then properties
It will say disable DPI, tick the box, apply
Then close chrome then reopen.

Re: Blurred display after upgrade to Windows 8.1

What about every other program that's running? if I install some software the text is also blurry... isn't there a full fix for that rather than a local one?

I tried playing a few games that gave me resolution problems as well, something here is not configured correctly.

Re: Blurred display after upgrade to Windows 8.1

Okay, I have found the solution, all you have to do is set the same size for all items in the Display window as follows:

Your reply led me to this solution, thanks!

Re: Blurred display after upgrade to Windows 8.1

I have searched for perm fix for ages but can't seem to find one. I have to disable DPI for everything I run. It's annoying because mot everything you can disable DPI :/ but for the game issues, if disabling DPI doesn't work, then I'd just advise you to reinstall your nvidia drivers etc.
