Buy the Lenovo Y500?

Hello guys,

I am considering buying the Lenovo Y500, but when I started reading reviews the laptop seems to be terrible..

I see complains about the

Touchpad, it doesn't work properly and is very unstable?

Keyboard, Letters erease (Chineese play keyboard) ?

Keyboard, letters will be stuck after a while, the keep hanging, type from theirself.

Now I wonder, are those things fixed yet?

If so, how can I be sure of that?

AND, where should I buy it then?

Thanks

Re: Buy the Lenovo Y500?

i dont regret buying it... none of the problems you mentioned occured with the one i bought...
it works and if you buy the additional graphics card you can run almost every game out by now. so the performance is outstanding... i´d recommend it to everyone interested in gaming eventhough i faced some problems with windows 8...

Re: Buy the Lenovo Y500?

No problem with mine , 1 month of intense use.

No touchpad and keyboard issues.

The wifi lost conections solved just with a drivers upgrade.

run everything you put on it. games, software, autocad, etc.etc.etc.

Buy again?  sure. 100%

cons: battery life.

go for it.

Re: Buy the Lenovo Y500?

What are you talking about Mariano????You were very much interested in tearing your laptop apart to fix the touchpad problems...

Excellent!

Thank you so much for the advice. I will be very carefully about it.

Also I found a video on the web that show you how to open step by step the y500...with both videos I believe will be more easy.

Thanks guys for the help and the info.

Regards from Argentina!

Re: Buy the Lenovo Y500?

To answer the OP's question, I would not purchase a y500 without a seriously deep discount. The 650m models still have the elan defective pads floating around and the wifi is very inconsistent. Haswell is out and there's no touch screen for windows 8.

Re: Buy the Lenovo Y500?

Brads:

I was reading a lot about that issue BEFORE I received my laptop, since I'm in Argentina and the shipping take more than 1 month to get here I was worried about it, that's why I search and saved all the information regarding the most comun issues.

In other topic I said that I was still waiting for my laptop. So I was not lie.

So far I have no problems. Hope keep that way.

Just the wifi , and doing driver upgrade solved it.
