like if you downgraded to windows 7 cuz you hated windows 8, in the future can you go back to windows 8 if you changed your mind or something, if so how? will it just involve restoring the hardware and changing the bios settings?

The Windows 8 Product Key does not have a COA Sticker at the bottom so Before doing a Windows 7 Downgrade, make sure you extract the Windows 8 Key First maybe using Bellarc or the like to get the Product Key,
Once you have the Windows 8 Product Key only then I would say it is ok to Downgrade, Because if you want to go back to Windows 8 It may ask for a Windows 8 product key.
Also Before Downgrading you can make a Windows 8 Recovery Drive. using this method so you can use it if you want to go back to Windows 8 .
Then other things are Yes. Hardware and BIOS Settings.
Hope this info helps

Sorry to hijack, but I am already on the other end of the story. I think it is too late already, but I did not make a backup of my Windows 8; thus unable to upgrade back that I want to. Care to advice?
Whats worse is that someone formatted my the harddrive, and therefore removed the hidden parition made by lenovo. Now I have no idea how to recover my windows 8. How can I recover the stock default windows 8 OS? Drop by a local lenovo service centre?

@jalormee: I think your only choice is to call techsupport and inquire about their recovery disc set for your unit. Be prepared for the price.
That link about the usb recovery media indicated that if you have a blank hdd you can use the usb recovery media to put back Win 8. Is this verified?
The reason I ask is that I learned through other forums that you cannot use the usb recovery media to put a fresh OS into a blank hdd.
