Conservation mode disabled automatically?

Hi there,

I have a ideapad Z510 with win 8.1

I enable conservation mode in the Energy manager. Everything is working ok, the battery stays at 60% until I turn off the pc.

When I reboot, most of the time Conservation mode is disabled and the battery is charging to 100% again.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Thank you,

Guru

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

I think someone reported it too, but for Y500. It works fine on my Y580 though.

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

I was not able to find the page regarding the y500.

I am now trying with this energy manager

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037680

which is updated to oct 16 2013 for win 8.1.

The Z510 is not listed among the supported laptops. Should I expect it to work? Any possible issues?

Thanks

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

I do not recommend doing that. LEM accesses some low-level settings of the laptop so it is potentially dangerous to install version, which was not designed for it.

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

I'm having just horrible battery life, and Energy Manager does not help. I do notice that EM has not been updated for 8.1 yet. Maybe that is the problem?

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

I hope that it will be soon...

sergioosh, thank you for you replies. I had already installed the "wrong" EM while you were replying to me and so far everything seems to work correctly.

I had also another problem (probably needs a separate post) and that is that EM at startup would tell me that my AC adapter was not powerful enough??? Also this seems solved after installing this other version.

I will report in a few days to confirm that all is ok

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

Let's hope it works. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Does it switch profiles correctly? You can use CPU-Z and NVidiainspector to check if clocks are affected by changing profiles.

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

It does switch power profile ok. The CPU frequency changes as soon as I switch.

Even with the new EM, if the computer is OFF, and I unplug the ac adapter,  but replug it before boot, it recharges to 100% again...Still don't understand if this is by design or what

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 11s and I'm experience the EXACT same problem as mtedde. I would like to keep Conservation Mode engaged so that the battery never charges to 60%. I very rarely need to use battery for more than a couple of hours, so I would prefer to manually switch off Conservation Mode only in those rare instances when I would need 100% charge. However, each time I unplug and plug the computer back in, Conservation Mode is disabled automatically, it is automatically turned off, it doesn't stick, and when I turn the computer on again it starts charging up to 100% and I have to manually turn Conservation Mode back on. There isn't a Windows 8.1 update for the Yoga 11s Lenovo Energy Manager and I'm afraid to install the update for other models. Also, it looks like the update didn't solve mtedde's problem. I'm surprised that this problem hasn't been reported more often, and am wondering if you guys have seen any fixes. Lenovo folks, are you listening? Thanks for any advice! -Adrian

Re: Conservation mode disabled automatically?

Mine is working great now. I installed the driver for win 8.1 from another model, don't remember which one.

If I unplug and replug later, conservation mode is still there. Sometimes is deactivated but have3n't been able to identify why. 90% of the time it works consistently and conservation mode stays on
