Disable intel graphics in bios

2015-03-13, 15:35 PM

I am 99% sure that this is not possible. But on my Y50-70 4K I was hoping to disable the intel chip so that my laptop will stop having issues.

I have a Y50-70 4K running UbuntuGome 14.10 and I'm trying to get the nvidia drivers to work, but it doesn't seem to be possible to switch to it successfully without disabling the intel chip which is what nvidia support has said. I'm not confident in their technical abillities, but I'm going to do my due dilligence before I call them idiots.

And since lenovo doesn't seem to bother with email or chat support anymore, I'm here on the forum.

You can't disable Intel Graphics card because it's connected to the screen, same as HDMI but nVidia is connected to Intel not screen. So: nVidia -> Intel -> Screen/HDMI

I have similar issue and it is probably related to novueau drivers. A BIOS update may help, but there is no official way to do that in linux.

Any update on this?
