Display issues on Y500

2013-12-20, 18:15 PM

So recently my less than 6 month old Ideapad Y500 display went blank after i restarted it. No back light or anything, just blank. It eventually came back on after I put the computer to sleep and all was well. But once again this has happened and this time its not coming back. Although sometimes (1/20 times) when I open the lid the display illuminates but stays completely blank.

I'm currently using my television as a moniter via hdmi, i've already tried removing the battery and holding down the power button and no change. Im prepared to take it in to a shop to get fixed just wanted to see if there was any help online as i'm not the most savy when it comes to computers. Any help is appreciated!

Hi Gabman20,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that your Y500 Laptop is displaying black screen after waking up from sleep, I suggest you to re-install the Display and Chipset driver for the computer and check the issue. While installing right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error. Below is the link to download the exact drivers for the computer:

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar
