Do I have to have installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology in Y510P?

Hi, since I know that what makes my SSD works as cache is ExpressCache...

Is there any reason to have installed the Intel Rapid Storage Technology?

I wanna uninstall it if it's not needed.

Thanks!

My laptop:
Lenovo Y510p, Intel Quad-Core i7-4700MQ up to 3.4GHz, Intel HD Graphics 4600, nVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 2GB GDDR5, 8GB RAM, 15.6" Full HD, 1TB 5400rpm HDD + 24GB SSD M.2 (cache), Intel Wireless-N 7260, 72Wh

Can I uninstall IRST since Expresscache is the soft that manages the SSD in M.2 bay of my Y510P?

i think doing so will disable your m.2 SSD card or make it disapear from system dunno if thats correct but i would keep IRT installed to make sure no problems occure with the SSD card.

Basically as what I learned from Intel that it is use for a raid setup. However, according to Intel, it also improve the unit's performance for units not having a raid setup. Here is a link that discussess whether to uninstall or not IRST.

Re: Do I have to have installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology in Y510P?

So... in my Y510P, with Expresscache managing my SSD: does IRST add any improvement to my laptop?

I think not, and it'd be nice to uninstall it cause it's a startup program, and I hate startup programs that are NOT necessary.

I think I'm gonna ask this in INTEL forums.

I only give you what I learned. However, if you feel you don't need it then uninstall it by all means. Yes its a good idea to ask Intel about it.
