Does any physical damage void warranty?

2014-05-16, 2:23 AM

I've been having trouble with my Y410P in that it will randomly turn of and then on by itself, each time it does that it makes a beep that you get if you do a hard power off. I thought this was a software issues so I did all checks and even two reformats, and nothing. So I called Lenovo and I'm on warranty, so the support agent said he will ship a box in which I will send my laptop to them.

Now I've never dropped this laptop or mishandled it. So when he asked me if there were any physical damage I said no. Though after the call I was inspecting to make sure I didn't miss anything, as I know some manufacturers are picky on things like this. What I noticed that at the heatsink grill there is a small piece missing. (The bit in the red box in the picture below)

I don't know how this happened and I'm certain this isn't the cause of my problems. Though would this void my warranty? And if it does what should I do to fix the laptop? I've done 2 reformats on it and the problem is still there.lenovo-laptop-ideapad-y510p-side-14.jpg

hi Fluix,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Wear and tear issues will not get affected by other cosmetic and Physical damages, unless it is the cause of the problem. If you send the system in for repair, You may get a call about the physical damage where you can opt ou to have repaired done to it and just asked to Fix the in-warranty issues.

As long as the issue is not cosmetic and physical damage, then it will be covered.

My mobile phone has a small crack on the screen.

It was aorking fine with that crack also.

on last sunday , in middle of call it stopped working.

So trusting lenovo company that since my phone was under warranty i went to their service center.

But lenovo company people are saying that we can not repair it unless you change your mobile screen, as physical damage has made your warranty void.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community RubyA !

I would suggest reposting your concerns in the appropriate Lenovo Phone forum.  Physical damage issues and how it relates to warranty service maybe different on those devices.
