Here is the official Lenovo Y480/Y580 WiFi replacement cards, and their Lenovo FRU, from the HMM. Notice: None of these has the ability to connect to the 5 Ghz band.
If you want any other card to work, you must have a modified BIOS, thereby voiding your warranty.

I Have Build in an 6205 N from Intel (with Bios Mod)
But i could not connect to my 5GHZ WLAN @ Home.. Only the 2,4GHZ will work..
Which Driver needs to be deinstalled / installed ?

1. Is there no card which would work without modding the BIOS. Need to keep the warranty for sure..
2. One could definitely use the Newer Wireless AC USB cards for gigabit WiFi.
3. Intel WiDi as per Intels site works only over 2.4 Ghz so if you are not connecting both your laptop and WiDi receiver on that then it would not work.

I don't know if anyone is still wondering about this......but I can put this topic to rest.
I found a plug and play wifi card - no bios or anything needed.....I installed it and it was instantly recognized and active (it detected the wireless networks upon bootup)...
This card has three antenna ports, and I installed a 3rd antenna....
Performance is amazing.....If anyone wants any info on it just post up.....
I really was unhappy with the performance of the original wifi, but had been sitting on the fence for a long time due to the uncertainity of successful replacements....
well - this one worked perfectly for me....

Thanks for the post! I ended up taking out the card I had put in my Y580 after I discovered that while 5GHz worked great, 2.4GHz had stopped working reliably. Since using 2.4GHz is more common than 5GHz, that wasn't acceptable.
I'll have to pick up one of these cards and give it a shot. Where did you get the extra antenna pigtail?

Hey man - I got the extra antenna from Amazon as well:
I followed the instructions on the post for the antenna install (stuck it to the top of the left speaker):

The screw holding the wifi card in was completely stuck - so I had to drill it out.....It is the second time I've had to drill out a screw in this laptop - the first being the screw that held the 32 gig SSD.....
Both times I used my trusty 18v Dewalt drill (driver/hammer drill) - the same drill I've used in the past to drill through concrete or bore 2" holes in wood....However, using a 1/16" bit and a steady hand - I first drilled through the screw head and removed the old wifi card. Then, I drilled out the remainder of the screw leaving the threads intact....No problem.
You may notice the silver screw holding my SSD in the previous picture
