Firmware updates

Hi All...,

I would like to know if there is firmware updates or not for Lenovo Y41O ODD.

now my ODD is not working properly. It works when CD inserts to it but it doesn't work when DVD inserts to it.

So I assume , this problem can solve bu updating firmware of that ODD.

If you all have other ideas for that problem , please let me know.

Re: Firmware updates

Modern ODD have separate lasers for CD and DVD. I'm afraid you will not solve your problem with firmware update. Your DVD laser is dead.

Re: Firmware updates

to resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. to do this, follow these steps:
- click start start button , type regedit in the start search box, and then click regedit in the programs list.

user account control permission if you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click continue .
- locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
caution there can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. you must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the upperfilters and the lowerfilters values. to verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the default data value is dvd/cd-rom and the class data value is cdrom.
- in the right pane, right-click upperfilters , and then click delete .
- click yes to confirm the removal of the upperfilters registry entry.
in the right pane, right-click lowerfilters , and then click delete .
click yes to confirm the removal of the lowerfilters registry entry.
exit registry editor, and then restart the computer.

does it work?

if not, contact lenovo support and ask them to replace your device for free if you have valid warranty.
