HDD Caddy for Z50 - 70

2015-02-24, 19:27 PM

I am replacing my hdd with a ssd. Thought of using the existing hdd as a 2nd drive with a hdd caddy. Should I get the 12.7 mm one or the 9.5 mm? Or is there a way to check this?

I exhume this post because I'm interested to put an ssd as principal drive.

How can I install Windows 10 in the ssd without losing the lenovo recovery partition?
If I install win 10 from zero I suppose that I'll lost all Lenovo software. How can I recover that software?

Ok! So If I clone existing hdd to ssd and format hdd, ssd became the same, even if I have to use recovey partition by lenovo?

(but if I clone the hdd with the os, then I have 2 windows 10 activate with the same key... where I am wrong?)

I was looking if there was a caddy for my Z70-80 but had not found one. The DVD drive appears thin so it may now work with one if one becomes available. Later, They're great for doing image backups as it sits on the SATA bus which is quite fast.
