Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would you have the machine number (MTM) from the sticker?
I expect that originally the machine came with Windows 8 or have you upgraded it to Windows 10?
Those machine that came with Win8 and Win10 usually have UEFI supported board so GPT partition is recommended if you would initialize the new SSD.
Likewise, you can check the SSD on another pc running perhaps on Windows 7 and compare it with those running in Windows 10 to verify the SSD integrity. If you are planning on using the SSD to replace the current HDD, then try to review this discussion as it should help you with the needed steps.
Update us how it goes.

get files to minimum, fit ssd and new win10 os,this recovered 1 pc for me.however a second pc refuses to cooperate so far,a missing driver is preventing windows install, recovery never completes, will strip down pc and inspect components, suspect software at fault,
