Hard drive Bay Adapter for Ideapad Z500 Series

Is there a compatible Hard drive Bay Adapter for the Z500 series?

I see ones for thinkpads but not for Ideapads.

Re: Hard drive Bay Adapter for Ideapad Z500 Series

You could buy a hardware caddy which gets inserted in the CD drive bay.
you could buy one from ebay.

Re: Hard drive Bay Adapter for Ideapad Z500 Series

Did it fit? I want to do the same upgrade, but I' concerned about dimensions.

Internet tells me that z500 is 25% slimmer than standart. I can't find "z500" written anywhere in the link ishaan gave. And the HD Caddy thread concerns me even more with all that drilling into computer parts because I bought it yesterday, it's all shiny and new (great product btw, powerful and affordable). So..

Is the optical drive of z500 of standard dimensions? Does the 12.7mm caddy fit? And if not, what are the measures?

Re: Hard drive Bay Adapter for Ideapad Z500 Series

Anyone do this? I made a thread as well. What I am concerned about is the length of the existing optical bay... And how the bottom of the bezel is rounded towards the bottom. I don't want a half inch sticking out on the bottom, so not sure if the existing bezel will work.

The only way I can see it working is if the existing optical drive is longer than the adapters and the bezel is removable and has standard clips which would be usuable on the adapter. Otherwise we will have like I said a half inch sticking out the side on the bottom as all of the ones I have seen are flush type adapters.

If anyone has installed one of these can you post a picture and which adapter you used. Lenovo should really make one of these for the Z series and not charge $60 for it like the thinkpad one.
