Help With My IdeaPad z710 i7

Hello,

Hope someone can help.

I decided to change my dvd drive and replace it with a ssd.

When i now turn my laptop all i get is the lenovo screen and it then reboots back to the lenovo screen. i dont even get as far as the circle of dots.

If i go to the boot menu and sellect the hdd it then loads with no problems.

Looks like its not picking up the normal hdd on startup.

Any Ideas.

Thanks

Re: Help With My IdeaPad z710 i7

hi stu2405,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You might need to change the boot sequence inside BIOS

Press F2 when you power on the computer.

   When in BIOS

Check it in Boot Tab

Your HDD should be on top of the Boot Device Priority

Hope this helps

Cheers!

Re: Help With My IdeaPad z710 i7

hi stu2405,

Thanks for the update,

Can you try resetting the BIOs

Boot into BIOS again press F9 the choose yes to load defaults

then F10 to Save and Exit Check if it will boot directly to it now.

Regards

Solid Cruver

In addition to what Solid_Cruver had advised, what is the setting of the boot mode in the bios? Did you install any os in the ssd?

Hi,

I have left the os on the hdd as normal and added a ssd in the optical drive that has been formathed and is blank.

The only thing i can think of is the 8gb ssd on the internal hdd is confilcting some how....

I think the 8 gb is internal to the hdd. That it's control is part of the hdd and no softwrae is required to change or configure it. So what is the boot mode settings in the bios?

Thanks. How is the ssd formatted? Did you format it in another unit? Is it formatted in GPT style, etc?
