Am looking to reinstall the OS for an old Lenovo IdeaPad for a friend of the family. But it is an old installation, and, when I try to download the ISO from Windows using the product key and S/N, I'm told:
"the product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer."
When I go to Lenovo, the customer support number did not call me back. Looking through the docs, I am less optimistic that there is a supported way to do this.
Has anyone gone through this and can offer any advice?

Please call Lenovo Premium Support at 855-271-38-78 Option 2 to purchase a copy of the recovery media. The department is open form 8 am to 11 pm EST.
