How to enable VT-x support on the Y400

I am currently trying to install a virtual box but keep getting the error that VT- x AMD -V hardware is enabled but not operational. I have read that I need to enable it somehow but I cannot find a clear method on how to actually enable it. Can anyone here give advice?

Thanks,

Dave
