I have pre-installed windows 8 in Ideapad Y500. Please adavice how can I make bootable USB from my system ?
Secondly please suggest is creating recovery partition is different than creating bootable usb or it is same thing ?

You can only create a recovery usb/dvd from the pre-installed Windows. It will help you recover your system to factory settings in case of failure. It will not help you install windows on a new hdd (as per what I understand and have noticed on this forum)
Creating a bootable usb/dvd from a Windows ISO file will help you install windows on any hdd, provided you have a Retail Windows key purchased from Microsoft.

You can try that but like I said I dont think it will boot up another system, since it is only a recovery disk and not a windows installation.

Ideally, I used to think that the recovery disk should boot up any system but one user said that it does not.
I still believe that you should try it, I cannot try this since I only have one system.
