I have a Lenovo Z710 but the battery is not charging at all.

I have a Lenovo Z710 and though the charger is in the laptop, it does not charge the battery at all. What should I do? I have no Windows but I have installed Ubuntu 16.04 on it. Hello JohnDoeJohn, 

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

It may be that there is an issue with the charge, try to use a different charger, see if that works or not.

 

If yes, and you are in warranty, by contacting Lenovo support they should be able to send you a replacement one I believe, douple check their disclaimers on this though to be safe. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

 

You can also try to Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Did it ever work. Since you're not in the original supported OS. Lenovo may have you install windows again. You'll have to call them. Tech Support use the Support tab at the top and work through it for your options in your area. Call back works good here in Canada with little waiting.
