IdeaPad Y510 hdaps support?

Im interested in using the accelerometer that is built in to many newer hard drives... i believe it is called hdaps... just wanted to know whether the y510 has it or not?

Re: IdeaPad Y510 hdaps support?

What are you talking about? Is that a hardware feature or software? Are you going to test RPM or transfer speed?

Update: oh, I see. just couldn't get the right translation for "accelerometer"  and took your post wrong, sorry - my bad Robot Sad

I know for sure that U110 has such system, but not sure if Y510 has one. I'll try to find that, thanks for interesting question.

Re: IdeaPad Y510 hdaps support?

Hi again.

I've brought bad news.

Only U110 supports hdaps. Y510 and Y710 do not.

Re: IdeaPad Y510 hdaps support?

thank you, I did some searching into and found that most of the thinkpad support it but y510 does not... would have been cool to do some custom hacks to utilize that feature

Re: IdeaPad Y510 hdaps support?

Y510 is not thinkpad-line. It is not for business. It's for consumer market. The only consumer model that utilizes hdaps is U110, as I suggest, due to it's positioning as ultra-mobile computer that really needs that feature. Also googling could tell you that hdaps consists of special sensors and driver. Well, even if you hack the driver (you really can, do you?) and change *.inf-file, you still need these sensors. I suggest that the only way after that is soldering them by your own hands Robot Happy
