IdeaPad Y510p black screen,,,,will not get into BIOS

My son attempted to upgrade it from Win8 to 10 about a year ago. Something went wrong I guess and he threw it in a drawer and left it. Now we are trying to get it going.

If you turn it on, it starts up, fan comes on, keyboards lights up, etc. Screen illuminates but just stays black. No splash screen, nothing.

I have tried an external monitor and nothing there either. Just "no input". I can toggle Fn and F2 and the screen will turn off and on.

I search around and found someone saying that pulling the battery and AC, hold power button for 30 seconds, and reinstall power and fire it up and it may work. It didn't. Nothing....same thing.

Button on the side will restart it but comes up the same.

Any ideas to get it to boot? At least into the bios so that I can get Windows reinstalled?
