IdeaPad Y560 Keyboard Issue

Hi, my new IdeaPad Y560 just arrived today.  Unfortunately, I've already found a pretty big problem... hope someone has a solution.

If I am holding the Up and Left arrow keys, hitting space does nothing.  All other three key combinations seem to work fine, including other combinations using specifically Up, Left, and X where X is any key besides Spacebar.  Up + Right + Spacebar works fine.  This is a big deal since my favorite game requires use of that combination of keystrokes.  Is there an updated keyboard driver or something that will fix this issue?

The issue is not application specific... it occurs everywhere.

Thank you,

Craig

Re: IdeaPad Y560 Keyboard Issue

My laptop does not have an application called Guarded ID installed. My friend who also owns a Lenovo laptop (not Y560) has also confirmed this issue. I'll find out his model information next time I talk to him.

I haven't installed anything new besides Firefox since receiving it yesterday.

Please escalate this to engineering if there is no ready solution, as it has now been confirmed on three independent machines.

Thanks again,
Craig

Re: IdeaPad Y560 Keyboard Issue

The issue persists while in safe mode.

I'll boot from a linux livecd later today and see if the issue remains.

Re: IdeaPad Y560 Keyboard Issue

Issue does persist in Linux.  This implies to me that we're either dealing with a hardware or firmware issue.  I'm somewhat hearing impared, which makes talking to people on a support line difficult.  Is there a direct email address to the support center which I can use instead of the phone?  I don't see one listed on the support page.

Re: IdeaPad Y560 Keyboard Issue

Right, that's what I would do except I have a very difficult time understanding people unless I can see their lips moving, especially if the person with whom I'm speaking is not a native english speaker as is most often the case with support lines.  Please save myself and the support tech the frustration of this phone call and refer me to someone I can converse with via email.  yigit, I read elsewhere that you're a volunteer, not a Lenovo employee, so I very much appreciate your time and help.

Thank you,

Re: IdeaPad Y560 Keyboard Issue

@milesc,

Since this could be a hardware or BIOS issue, we might need to check this with engineering for their feedback.

Also I've tested this on the T410 which I am using, below are the results.

Up + left + space = nope
Up + right + space = works
Up + left + X = works
Up + right + X = works

Is it possible for your game to use different key strokes or all keys will not work with the 2 arrow keys are being pressed on?
