Hello, I want to know whether Edge Scrolling using the touch pad mouse on Lenovo Z500 Touch is possible. When I try to adjust the settings on my ELAN Pointing Device options, I see Edge Swipe, but not Edge Scrolling. I just bought this laptop, but I made sure that I do have the latest drivers for my touch pad. Moreover, I think this feature was meant to be included in the software because the registry options and demonstration videos suggest Edge Scrolling is possible under this hardware and software. So what gives?
I strongly dislike having to use two fingers to scroll on my touch pad instead of being able to use the edges. This is a pretty basic feature on most laptops these days, and I used to use it daily on my previous Lenovo laptop. If I can't have it on this new computer, I will probably return it. I appreciate any help in resolving this.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that the Edge scrolling feature is not working in the Touchpad, re-installing the Touchpad driver should display the Edge Scrolling feature in Z500 Laptop as per the image below:
Here is the link to download the Touchpad driver for the computer:
Hope this helps!!!
Do post us back if the issue still persists.

I reinstalled the driver using the link you gave me. It did not change anything. My screen does not show me an option for edge scrolling. I see this:
I am using Windows 8.

I confirm your statement that there is no edge scrolling for the Z500. What is there is the edge swipe only as shown in the picture.

just follow these
1: right Click on Computer
3: Device Manager
4:Click on Mice and other pointing Devices
5:then Right click on the pad device
6:Update Driver Software
7:Choose number 2 ( Browse my computer for Driver software)
8:Choose number 2 ( Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer)
9:Mark on (Think Pad UltraNav Pointing Devoce)
10: Press next > Close > Restart> go check Mouse Setting from Control p>Open Mouse and make sure that setting of the Edge are good

by the way this way work 100% on Lenovo z500 Touch and if it didnot work with you then you need to check the driver update that u picked to replace the old one with

Thanks for the workaround. It does work.
I just hope that there will be an update to the Z500 touchpad driver and not using this Thinkpad notebook driver.
BTW, instead of selecting the Thinkpad driver you can also use the Elan PS2 Smartpad driver.

if you used that one you will feel that scrolling not good as much it was with thinkpad
also the touchpad speed when u move the mouse will be slow too slow
so thinkpad one its the perfect one also with the newest update of the driver
you going to see that use touch pad and scrolling with thinkpad became better
also make sure to check the edge setting so you make it with the good setting of speed and other that u like

Hello, I've just bought a Lenovo Z500 and I have the same problem of ab56v2.
The driver you suggest has only multifinger option for scrolling. There's NO option for scrolling with one finger on the edges.
So I installed "Thinkpad Ultranav Pointing Device" driver as Yahiasheta said; apparently it works (and the edge scroll with one finger appears in the options) but there's a problem to fix because it works only on the pages with ONE scrolling bar, it doesn't work instead on pages that have two or more scrolling bars. For example if you go on Inbox messages on Facebook and you try to scroll a conversation, you can't, you can only scroll the list of messages on the leftside. Another example, if you go on a long page that has a chat window, you cannot scroll the chat, even if you click on it, you can only scroll the entire page.
I made my tries, the driver doesn't work properly, I don't know what's the problem. I use Chrome if you need to know that.
Thank you all

What? I didn't understand your phrase, sorry for my english what's key?
However I don't go back because I will never use two fingers, and with all the other drivers you have to do that. I hate multifinger option, i should have the possibility to CHOOSE between one or two or more fingers. I don't have touch screen, I don't care about smartphones, I only want a normal touchpad as I always have had.
If they don't fix I will use it like now and when there are more scroll bars I will go on the bars. Or I will just buy a mouse...or another notebook...it's sad because for the rest, Lenovo is very good!
