Hi all,

I have the same problem ...

Works ok for everything but the turbo boost doens't work.

INTEL VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGY IS ENABLED IN THE BIOS ...

PLEASE TAKE A READ ON THIS FROM INTEL:

Dear Mr. Luiz,

Thank you for contacting Intel® Customer Support.

I am contacting you about your support request for the Intel Turbo Boost.

Please note that the Turbo Boost Technology Monitor is not supported with 4th generation processors like yours.

You can find more information here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19105

Please note that the technology should already be active without needing further action. It just gets activated automatically from the system when required.

As we are not familiar with the bios of your laptop, to be completely sure you do not need to activate anything I suggest you to also contact the laptop manufacturer.

Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Manuela C.

Hello,

I have bought 2 laptops Lenovo with your processor but one those the turbo boost doesn't work to me.

I have tried to install the Intel® Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 2.6 but I have received the message:

INSTALLATION CANNOT CONTINUE BECAUSE THIS COMPUTER DOES NOT HAVE A PROCESSOR WITH INTEL BOOST TECHNOLOGY CAPABILITY.

But in your website the spec for this processor is:

Clock Speed 2.2 GHz
Max Turbo Frequency 3.2 GHz

PLEASE NOTE:
I have checked on the bios the option INTEL VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGY IS ENABLED.
Intel® Extreme Tuning SHOWED DISABLE THE TURBO BOOST.

So, how can I enable this option?

Thank you in advance.

I use HWiNfo64 to monitor whether turboboost is working or not. I run Windows Defender in full scan mode. If it fluctuates from minimum to near maximum then that means it is working. See picture. So how did you determine that yours is not working?

If I run for example the CPU Z you can see the example:

Intel Extreme Tuning during the test and after the test as well.

To monitor it's fine. The problem is the turbo boost !!! It always off/disable

PLEASE NOTE the option INTEL TURBO BOOST TECHNOLOGY shows up DISABLE on the Intel Extreme Tuning BUT ON THE BIOS IS ENABLE ....

I guess this is a LENOVO'S BUG ...

THERE IS NO BIOS FOR THIS MODEL

I'm not sure if its a bug because using that tuning utility turboboost is disabled when benchmarking only (this is how I see it). Perhaps Intel should be consulted for clarification on the configurations when benchmarking using that utlity.

Update:

From one of the postings in the Intel site try to check the number of processors and memory limit boxes in the msconfig/advance options setup are checked. If yes, uncheck them and reboot.

You can also search in the Intel forum for the utility and turbo boost. There's some info that might help you out.

The Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor program may not be supported by Intel on the 4th Gen CPUs but it works fine.  The timers in the CPU that are used to determine the amount of Turbo Boost are in the exact same location as they were in the previous generation CPUs.  If your CPU is using Turbo Boost, the Intel gadget will report it  When running a single threaded benchmark like the RealTemp - XS Bench, it has no problem reporting the full 36 multiplier that an overclocked 4700MQ is capable of.

You should also be seeing lots of Turbo Boost during the XTU stress test.

If Turbo Boost is not working on your laptop then you can try using ThrottleStop which is available at TechPowerUp.  It is the only free utility I know of that can get your Intel CPU running at its full Intel rated speed, including Turbo Boost.  It can take a while for these kind of problems to be fixed with a bios update.
