Ideapad Y400 will not boot

My y400 was working fine this morning, then suddenly shut down.  When I try to restart; the keyboard lights up and fan hits high RPMs for about 10 seconds and then the machine shuts off.  Same result with the "novo" button.

Guys at geek squad says it sounds like a bad motherboard.

3 months out of warrenty.

Re: Ideapad Y400 will not boot

Hi Jfiely,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing an issue your Lenovo Y400 laptop not powering on.

Try to disconnect the external devices and also disconnect the battery and adapter.

Turn off the system and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and connect battery and adapter and try to power on the system.

Try to connect only adapter, remove the battery and try to power on system. Check for the LED indication.

Try to check with different battery and different adapter.

If still the issue persists, it might be the issue with the motherboard, please contact the service center for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Do post us back for further queries.

Best regards,
