Ideapad Y460: Switchable graphics sometimes refuse to switch; must reboot

2012-02-13, 15:56 PM

Hi Everyone,

I have an Ideapad Y460 from December 2010. Of course, it has the ATI discrete card and intel integrated graphics. Certain times, usually directly after I turn the computer on, I cannot get the graphics processor to switch. The hardware button on the front does not work, and even right clicking ATI Catalyst Control Center -> Configure Switchable Grahpics and explicitly clicking the graphics processor I want to use simply does nothing.

Currently, I have to reboot every time to get this to work. It's a big hassle, and I was wondering if anyone might have any clue as to the reason or a fix?

Thanks!

You can set you switchable graphics from dynamic to static in bios, once set like this you can right click on the desktop to change between dedicated graphics or Intel graphics. You should leave it set this way in any case.

Can I disable Switchable Graphics?
