Ideapad Y50 Speakers stop working, subwoofer continues working

So I just got my y50-70 a week ago. Every once in a while the speakers stop working, but the subwoofer still works. It goes away when I put the machine to sleep. Additionally, sometimes when I plug in headphones no sound comes out, this also goes away when I close and open the laptop.

Hi Simonxliu,

 

Welcome to Lenovo forums

 

As I understood that you are facing the issue with the speakers.

 

As you have mentioned the sub-woofer is working I would suggest you update the chipset driver and also the audio driver this might resolve the issue.

I have exacly the same issue!

@Ashwin - unfortunately your solution did not work. Updated chipset driver and Realtek HD Audio drivers, and still not working properly.

 

Please provide solution, as I see that I am not the only one with this issue.

 

This laptop is too expensive for bugs like this!

 

My configuration is Lenovo Y5-70 with Windows 7 pro 64 bit, bios (latest) v 1.13

If you need additional information about my configuration, installed programs, etc. feel fre to contact me. I woud like to help fix this issue.

Hi Simonxliu,

 

Welcome to Lenovo forums

 

As I understood that you are facing the issue with the speakers.

 

As you have mentioned that the after the up gradation of the chipset and audio driver the issue still persist.

 

Please go to the control panel, select the realtek HD, in the right side top you can find a option called device advance setting and select multi streaming mode and check for the issue.

thaks for quick response.

 

When I click device advance setting i get different options than you mentioned.

Sould I set "Separate all input..." option? Or what?

As I understood that you are facing the issue with the speakers.

 

As per the snap shot which you have provided, select the 2nd option i.e separate all input jack as independent input devices and connect the output devices like speakers.

After setting "Separate all input jack as independent input devices..."  speakers working fine now, but i need some extra time to test this workaround.

Maybe @Simonxliu can confirm too that this solition working or not for him?

I have had that setting checked since the first week I got this laptop, it has made no difference.
