This laptop is three weeks old, newest model with 16gb ram, 1tb drive + ssd cache, 750m graphics. It has the Synaptics trackpad / touchpad. It appears to freeze and become unresponsive after using any number of two finger gestures. The last time it occurred this morning was doing the two-finger tap for the right-click menu.
I've updated to the latest Synaptics driver, and it still happens.

Is your issue solved?
In a few days I will get my new y500 and I read a lot of complains about the touchpad..... scary me to the dead!
Any news about it?

I'm using the latest driver, 184.108.40.206. I"ll try the one from the Lenova site, 16.2.10, later today and see how it goes. Aside from the driver. One of the larger issues is the design of the mouse buttons. Sometimes you click the button down, but it doesn't register unless you press harder. That is not related to the driver, but the mechanics of the mouse button.
Honestly, I wish I'd tested the trackpad more in the store before ordering this because it is killing me in Photoshop, where I need fine control.

Thanks for your reply Severian.
Did you try the silver tape solution ? I found it in one of topics here and seems to be the one.
I believe I should use an external mouse instead of the laptop. And of course I think the same like you: great machine with that problem unsolved? What a mess...what a shame...
If I have the same one I will try the silver tape (or electric tape ) on mine.
