My Lenovo Ideapad Y510P keyboard has stopped working properly. To be more precise - the "q" and "w" buttons don't work. Every other button is fine. There was no damage, no high wear, nothing physically wrong when removing the buttons. It started suddenly and without a prompt (just in the middle of a game). Erratically the two still start working and with a minuscule lag at first. Once i have typed a few times with the lag disappears only for them to stop working again at some point. As i tried to convey at the start - i don't believe that it is a hardware issue.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
You can try to test the same key using online keyboard test like here to compare same key test doing the onscreen keyboard. Use an external USB keyboard to input same q and w keys too.
Another way to check if it is not a hardware issue is to try booting the machine on another OS like in a live media image to isolate it from a software issue or better yet test it on the BIOS. I personally do it on the BIOS password just to check the keys without saving it (restart without any changes).
If the same keys fail on the mentioned steps then it is probable for a hardware issue.
Hope this help answer your query.

Thank you for your quick reply!
The keyboard issue got me doing some other maintenance with my computer while i was waiting for an answer. Namely i messed around with graphic card drivers which led to renewing my antivirus. None of them are connected to keyboard in any way to my knowledge. However, as a byproduct, my keyboard issue has vanised! Perhaps i am being optimistic too early and if so, i will come back to this thread. But for now i am left positively puzzled of this outcome.
